A few introductions are in order…

      Welcome to the brand new blog brought to you by the ladies of Barefoot Contessa! Most of you would probably recognize our faces from either our Commercial Drive or Main Street stores – in fact, we probably helped you find a fabulous dress at some point. Although we love seeing you all in person, we are super excited about this new avenue of interaction! 

Our aim is to create a blog that is an extension of our stores – fun, friendly, fashionable and full of lovely things.  We will fill you in on all the goings-on at Barefoot Contessa; give you a peek behind the scenes; show you what we have coming in, when it’s arrived and the fun of unpacking and trying it all on; give you the inside scoop on upcoming sales; share profiles of some of our favourite designers; feature fun and stylish customers; and everything in between.

      However, before we get underway blogging about “all things lovely” we thought it would make sense to properly introduce ourselves. We are a diverse group of gals who honestly probably wouldn’t have met each other if it weren’t for Barefoot Contessa (yet we all get along famously and love working together – phew!) so it goes without saying that we each bring a little something different to the stores.  

 One of our goals at Barefoot Contessa is basically to be the girl friend you didn’t bring to help you find an outfit that makes you look amazing, so hopefully after reading a bit more about us you will have a better idea of who exactly is behind this blog and who you’re chatting with when you visit us in the stores.  Oh and don’t forget - we love hearing from you too, so comments are always welcome!

What is one thing people are usually surprised to find out about you?

 - I am a really big Too Short fan.

  

Describe your perfect Sunday

- Sleeping in with the husband, listening to records and eating breakfast foods for dinner. 

 

What do you do to relax?

- Watch endless episodes of How I Met Your Mother on DVD.

 

What was the last book you read or are currently reading?

- Currently reading Anna Karenina for the second time.

 

What words of wisdom would you pass on to your daughter?

 - Leggings are not pants, Uggs and flip flops are not shoes.

 

What’s your biggest regret?

- Losing one of my black suede lace up wedges, saddest morning after ever!

 

 

What you were young what did you want to be when you grew up?

- A Ballerina. Then I realized I had never actually taken a ballet class and all I really wanted to do was play with the tutu’s.

 

What do you currently want to be when you grow up?

Ballet costume designer, they’re the one’s who actually get to play with all the tutu’s.

 

Describe your personal style

- 50′s schoolgirl/ 40′s housewife. If it can be described as frothy or looks like it belongs on a 6 year old, I’ll probably like it.

 

If there were to be a movie of your life, who would you choose to play you?

- Kirsten Dunst because she has messy teeth and is kind of awkward.

 
What is your personal motto or words you live by?

- Stranger Danger.

 - That I’m not just a pretty face – I’m also really into Hip Hop.

 - Good friends, good food, good drinks, good music, good vibes!

What do you do to relax?

 - Write, read, drink a nice Whiskey on the rocks and hang out with friends

What was the last book you read or are currently reading?

 - Currently reading D.H. Lawrence “Sons and Lovers” and Chelsea Handler’s “Chelsea Chelsea, Bang Bang!”

What was the best advice you were ever given?

 - With a little effort it will randomly work out!

What words of wisdom would you pass on to your daughter?

 - Don’t let the little things stress you out; look at the big picture you amazing, beautiful little girl

What’s your biggest regret?

 - No Regrets 2010 and Beyond

When you were young what did you want to be when you grew up?

 - A cowboy!

What do you currently want to be when you grow up?

 - Wonderful

Describe your personal style

 - A real mix of everything! Casual, Dressy, Gangsta, Polished, Classic, Eclectic, Trendy….it really depends on my mood that day!

If there were to be a movie of your life, who would you choose to play you?

 - a) R. Kelly or b) Barbra Streisand
